Journals

This scholarly journal is issued quarterly by the Kansas Historical Foundation and the Department of History at Kansas State University.  It contains current and original research about Kansas and western history in an accessible format that appeals to all audiences.  The journal first became published in 1875 and sheds light on multiple aspects of Kansas history - including Reconstruction and the repercussions of the Civil Rights Movement.  You can access issues of the journal online through the Kansas Historical Society website, or purchase them at the Kansas Museum of History Store.

Kansas History: Journal of the Central Plains

The Kansas Historical Quarterly was a journal published through the Kansas Historical Society from 1931-1977. The Kansas Historical Society allows users to view all issues of this journal for free on their website. The Kansas Historical Quarterly

This scholarly journal is maintained by the Western History Association and Utah University and has been in print since 1969.  The journal features original scholarly work pertaining to the North American West.  The scope of the journal covers American History and specific Area Studies and delves into such content areas as: westward movement, and regional studies.  There is a complete list of journal articles located on the site.   Access to this journal may be acquired through your local academic institution.
